‘death knell?’ Not exactly
In response to Nelson Griswold’s podcast (“House
bill a ‘death knell’ for Brokers”), Robert Landry of New
England Benefits clarifies that that Massachusetts Commonwealth
Connector has primarily focused on consumers, not small businesses.
“They are still piloting ‘contributory’ plans which
equate to small group plans but the advantages of this approach are
unclear,” he says. “There does not [appear] to be any clear
advantage for small groups to go through the Connector versus their
broker.”

Improving productivity driving wellness programs globally, but
not in U.S.
Boosting productivity by keeping workers healthy is
emerging as the top driver of wellness programs around the world,
according to this year’s annual wellness survey from Buck
Consultants. The two exceptions are the United States, where reducing
health care costs remains the most important objective, and Asia, where
